Highway Africa (www.highwayafrica.org.za) Heloise Emdon, Senior Programme Officer: Acacia, Southern Africa participated in a panel discussion at the Highway Africa which this year was also hosted as a WSSD sideshow. Highway Africa, the leading conference on New Media for journalists in Africa, is an annual event organised by the Department of Journalism and Media Studies, Rhodes Univerisity, Grahamstown, South Africa. Over the five years of its existence the Conference has developed a reputation as a forum which engages with all the journalistic, technological, and political issues crucial to the development of New Media in Africa, and has gathered together speakers and delegates from around the world.
