A website for Acacia

How and why the workshop website project was set up

Putting an entire website together in just a few days is no mean feat, but Acacia Southern Africa was confident that it could be done. Moreover, it should be done - as a demonstration that Acacia practices what it preaches. If the Internet offers a practical and viable way to reach communities, Acacia's own community of researchers should be the first target audience.

The website project was run on a very small scale, with larger ideas in mind for the future. The site you see here is intended only to cover the workshop, with a few selected items showing projects in the field. In future, Acacia may use the website to pull together its knowledge base of project research.

The initial Acacia website has been constructed by media consultant Graeme Addison, a freelance journalist and former Professor of Communication. Starting from scratch, with a mass of documentation, some photographs, maps and charts, he assembled the material and put it up on the newly designed site.
