Building a digital future for Africa

http://www.aitecafrica.com/

SAIF 2003: The Southern African Internet Forum, Kwa Maritane, 11-13 April.  Introduction

AITEC has a clear vision of, and strong commitment to, Africa’s digital transformation to strengthen its position in the world economy. It works closely with national and regional professional associations and multilateral organisations to achieve the common goals of:

  • Spreading computing and communications knowledge;
  • Expanding the African IT market and promoting competition;
  • Developing local capacity – both internally within AITEC and more broadly within the markets we work in.

AITEC is the publisher of Computers+ Telecommunications in Africa magazine – a leading guide to Information Technology in Africa. Established in 1989, AITEC has developed offices in the following countries:

Kenya since 1993
Ghana since 1998
Nigeria since 2000
Uganda since 1998
Tanzania since 1998
UK since 1987

The African IT Education Trust

Initiated by AITEC, the Trust was established in 1999, under the patronage of Graca Machel, to mobilise funding for IT education projects aimed at Africa’s youth. The Trust is providing support to the SchoolNet Africa project and is developing Information Sciences Enterprise Campuses to promote high-level IT knowledge (www.aitet.org).
