Acacia in Angola

Following several false starts to an enduring peace process in Angola it appears that the three-decade-long civil war has finally ended - and now rebuilding of a nation is running apace. With an estimated eight thousand NGO workers and volunteers engaged in social rebuilding and food distribution activities in more than twenty centres around the country, the logistics of planning, managing and communicating with this enormous work-force requires the latest in communications technology. Evaluation of the PAN Asia Conference

The PAN Asia Networking All Partners Conference took place in Vientiane, Laos from March 3-8, 2003.  This forum brought together 124 overseas participants, of which 30 are members of IDRC staff. Strategic Evaluation: Research Influence on Policy

As part of a larger study on the policy influence of its interventions around the world, the IDRC commissioned a series of case studies on its Acacia program in four African countries, namely Mozambique, Senegal, South Africa and Uganda. Acacia focused on the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) for development in 15 projects. Download the MSWord document.

Connectivity Africa site goes up

Getting African fully connected to the Internet and other channels of communication was the goal spelt out at the  G8 Kananaskis 2002 Summit. Canadian expertise will be brought to bear especially in relation to education, health and community development.  Go here for the site.

The Bookings have come in fast, and the Acacia conference is now fully booked. To avoid oversubscription, a waiting list has been started.
